Meet the Founders
Stu Edwards
Stu has an extensive background in both music education and live performance, bringing a diverse and valuable skill set to the music field. With years of experience teaching guitar privately, in schools, and at tertiary level, he has developed a broad educational repertoire that caters to all skill levels. As a co-founder of Guitar Clarity, Stu's vision is to present a clear and approachable learning format for guitarists of all abilities. Passionate about music, he is committed to helping students achieve the best outcomes for their unique learning journeys.
Over the past decade, Stu has published and co-published six educational guitar books, all of which have been nationally accredited by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA) and widely used in schools across New Zealand. He continues to develop new materials each year, expanding the available repertoire for students.
With a diverse stylistic background - including live rock performance, fingerstyle guitar, classical guitar examinations, and improvisational instruction - Stu brings a wealth of educational resources to Guitar Clarity.
For eight years, he served as a guitar examiner with the New Zealand Music Examinations Board (NZMEB), where he played a key role in writing and developing the national guitar examination syllabus.
An ever-passionate music lover and advocate for guitar education, Stu is dedicated to musical excellence - for both his students and himself.
